Featured as our spot of the day, New Mexico’s city of Santa Fe clearly lives up to its title, “The City Different At Every Corner.” You’re bound to learn something new about yourself when you visit, thanks to the city’s storied history and culture, its diverse art scene, its world-class lodgings, its award-winning food, and the endless opportunities for discovery that await you.
The Readers’ Choice Awards 2019 ranked Santa Fe as the world’s sixth best city (Condé Nast Traveler). Dresden, Merida, and Tokyo were all in the top ten of the list. It’s impressive since it beat off some hard competition to arrive at number six!
Why Is “Santa Fe” One of the World’s Best Cities?
Here are some of the reasons we love Santa Fe.
1. Its Culture & Art
It’s no surprise that Santa Fe made the cut on this list thanks to its renowned art and cultural scene. With its rich indigenous past, Santa Fe is a great place to visit for both art and culture. All of this art, from the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture to the heritage of the artist Georgia O’Keeffe in the region, has a beauty that you won’t find anywhere else in the globe.
2. Great Outdoors
There is so much to do outdoors in Santa Fe. Snow skiing, horseback riding, and balloon rides are all available. The scenic location is bustling with outdoor activities all year. So no matter the time of year you visit, you’ll find something enjoyable to do outdoors. It’s unusual to find so much to do outdoors in other places.
Definitely on my bucket list. I’d love to go for the hot air balloon festival
About 10 years ago my wife and I stayed in Albuquerque for the annual balloon festival. It is the most colorful and nicest thing we have seen and attended. It is a “MUST DO.”
That is in Albuquerque.
The Hot Air Balloon Festival is in Albuquerque, N.M. not in Sante Fe.
They said balloon rides, not the festival. The Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival has been well attended and famous for many years. Santa Fe is elegant all on its own, especially when you visit the outdoor markets.
