Salem City is Oregon state's capital. The city is full of public and private gardens with area gardens that come alive each spring. Salem offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere from the vineyard-covered Willamette Valley to the historic downtown area and the children's museums.

Apart from its world-famous flower gardens, the “Cherry City of the World” is also famous for having a historic downtown area full of attractions. Although it has a small-town feel, it's full of amenities such as dine-ins, restaurants, and museums.

Salem is also well known for its textile industries, producing cotton and polyester handloom products and handicrafts. The beautiful silver anklets made by local vendors are also trendy.

Did you know that the indigenous Kalapuya people called Salem Chim-i-ki-ti, which means "meeting or resting place?" Additionally, Salem has had three distinct capital buildings built. The first, built in 1855, burned to the ground after barely two months. The second, built in 1876, also burned down in 1935. And the current standing one was built three years later, in 1938.
