Marmaris is a small coastal town situated in the southwest of Turkey. It’s known for its stunning beaches and historical sites, making it an ideal holiday destination. 

The city lies in the southwest corner of Turkey, close to Greece and Cyprus. It’s surrounded by several lakes, giving it a unique natural setting that must be seen to be believed!

  • Marmaris Castle: Built by Sultan Suleiman I in 1522, the Marmaris Castle was once used as part of his naval defense system before becoming one of Turkey’s most popular tourist attractions today. It’s famed for its views of the city below and its beautiful façade, which is lit up with colorful lights every night!
  • Kizilkuyu Mosque: Founded in 1539 by Sultan Sulieman I, the Kizilkuyu Mosque is an important example of Ottoman architecture. Its interior is adorned with Islamic calligraphy, making it an essential place to visit for anyone interested in Islamic art and culture.
  • Hisarönü Beach: This beach offers some of the best views of the Aegean Sea and some great opportunities for swimming or sunbathing. You can also take a few minutes to relax at its waterfront restaurants or browse its various shops – making it a great place to spend the day!
  • Ataturk Park: Located right next to the Marmaris Castle, Ataturk Park provides visitors with plenty of greenery and shade from the scorching hot Turkish sun. The park is also equipped with several playgrounds, making it perfect for families with kids!
  • Grand Bazaar: The Grand Bazaar is a bustling market located at the heart of Marmaris offering plenty of souvenirs and gifts for tourists looking to bring something back from their trip. It has dozens of shops selling everything from traditional jewelry to handmade ceramics.
