Glendale (Arizona)

October 26, 2022

In the late 1800s, the area that is now Glendale, Arizona, was a mere desert. A man named William John Murphy was hired to construct the Arizona Canal through the state, but he found himself deeply in debt upon completing the project. He formed several communities and looked to sell them to regain some funds. Thus, the now beautiful town of Glendale was formed. Glendale was named in the hopes of attracting investors to the area. It was officially founded as a city in 1910 and is now a welcoming mid-sized community.

The town for sure came from humble beginnings, but it was just recently named one of the most popular travel destinations in all of Arizona! Known now as “Arizona’s Antique,” Glendale now abounds with entertainment activities for residents from different generations. From exciting nightlife, Annual Blues & Jazz concerts, and sporting events such as the 2015 Super Bowl, there is something that will appeal to everyone.
