Found in the United States, Boise is the capital city of Idaho. It was founded in 1863. The city’s population as of 2020 was 235.684 people making it the most populated city in Idaho. Boise is built around the Boise River, which runs in the southwestern parts of Idaho.

Boise’s downtown area reaches a total elevation of 2704 feet (68.68 meters) above sea level. The larger Boise metropolitan area hosts 749,202 permanent residents as of 2020. The area is often referred to as the Treasure Valley and is divided into five counties. The Treasure valley comprises large cities like Boise, Nampa, and Meridian.

Boise is ranked 77th most populous city in the United States. With many people comes excellent entertainment, which downtown Boise is built for. The area is littered with small businesses, including shops and restaurants.

Idaho’s Basque community is second to none in the United States, with over 7000 members. Many of these members live in Boise and hold a sizable Basque festival every five years. The Jaialdi festival will next be held in 2025.

If you don’t want to kick off your shoes to some jazz tunes, you can always go for a long hike in Boise’s foothills north of downtown. Some visitors go by the Boise River for fishing, swimming, or rafting activities.

Zoo Boise is home to over 200 animals and is found in Julia Davis Park. The city also has an aquarium for fish enthusiasts. During winter, the Bogus Basin ski area is the place to be. Here you can get into alpine skiing and snowboarding or even snow tubing.
